Those issues found by us are the commitment of Starbucks to provide quality service to customers, the providing of a conducive working environment for employees and the emphasis on integrity and fairness on all dealings in the company. It is very important for a company to have commitment to provide quality service to customers. This is because it will increase the satisfaction of customers towards the company. The quality service provided will act as Starbucksââ¬â¢s competitive advantage to create loyal customers. Starbucksââ¬â¢s reputation can also be enhanced through the spreading of news about the good service provided by the company through blogs and social media. This will attract more customers and increase the revenue of Starbucks. A working environment which is conducive is a key element to the performance of the employees and also is one of the individual rights for the employees. The work environment creates behavioural patterns in human development and has both physical and psychological influences on employees in the company. A harmonized and comfortable environment will increase the productivity and job satisfaction of employees. When the employees are in a peaceful environment without any disturbance or unethical problems created by others in the company, they can be more focused in their work and put more effort in it as well as have a better performance. The emphasis on integrity and fairness on all dealings by Starbucks is a key factor to support the ethical principles which are individual rights and distributive justice. Managers that are being fair and integral can avoid conflicts happen between employees and a peaceful as well as friendly working environment will be created in the company. This will also enhance employees trust on Starbucks and improve their loyalty to the company. In conclusion, we have positive comments on the main issues in Starbucks and they are quite important to support the ethical principles. 4.0 Recommendations After studying about the topic that we chose that is ethics at workplace, we found that there are many ethical practices practised by employers as well as employees in Starbucks which is the company that we chose. We have some suggestions on how they can further improve practising ethics in Starbucks. First of all, we suggest Starbucks to use ethical screening for job applicants during interview. Ethical screening is the process of checking these job applicants against certain moral standards and removing those who do not conform. This can be done by checking the resumes of those applicants which contain the behavioural information that reflects the attitude of the applicants. The interviewers should also interview them about how they managed the ethical issues faced by them at their previous workplace and how they are going to solve the ethical problems cases when they face them in the future. Besides, they should also make sure the applicants share the same ethical values with the company and will maintain them on the job. This can prevent one unethical employee to have a bad influence on others in the company that may ruin the good image of an ethical company. Moreover, Starbucks can expose new employees to the companyââ¬â¢s code of ethics, code of conducts and ethical decision making process during the orientation to improve the ethics in the company. The companyââ¬â¢s codes of ethics and conducts act as its conscience and provide a common ethical reference point for employees. By reviewing these conducts, employees will know about what they should do and what they should not do in the company. They also know whether the issues appear in the future are considered ethical or not ethical according to the companyââ¬â¢s code of ethics and code of conducts and solve it with the best and necessary solution. Furthermore, Starbucks can improve ethics in the company by providing ethics training workshops for all employees annually to supplement ethics codes. The managers that organise these training workshops should provide some real cases with ethical violations of Starbucksââ¬â¢ ethics code and let them think carefully and discuss among themselves about what they should do for those scenarios. After that, the managers should teach them the correct and best solutions to solve these kinds of ethical problems. Through these workshops, the employees will know what to do when they face these kinds of ethical issues in the future and the relationship between employees will also be enhanced through the interaction in the workshop as well as build trust between each other. We also recommend Starbucks to strengthen the ethics which are individual rights and distributive justice of the work unit by rewarding those employees with ethical behaviours equally and punish those with unethical behaviours through work goals and performance appraisals. The managers should praise those employees that achieve the goals in an ethical way or even give them a certificate for being an ethical employee to encourage them. This will also act as a motivation for other employees. At the same time, they should give the same punishment to those employees with unethical behaviour by giving them a warning letter so that they will not do it again in the future. This can also act as an example for other employees so that they will not make the same mistake as these unethical employees. By doing this can avoid developing moral confusion in the company. The next suggestion for Starbucks is the managers or the direct supervisors of the employees should model appropriate behaviours in themselves as they are actually the most important ethics reference point for the employees. Ethical behaviours in a company start at top management because the employees tend to follow the behaviour and action of their managers towards an ethical issue. It has a greater influence on employees compared to the stated policies of the company. Therefore, the words and actions of the managers should always be aligned with the companyââ¬â¢s code of ethics and code of conducts. They should act with integrity all the time in order to maintain an ethical workplace. In conclusion, there are many other ways that Starbucks can further improve ethics in the company other than what we suggest here. Improving ethics at workplace is very important in order to be a famous company with good image and quality as well as employees and employers can work together harmoniously without creating any unethical issues on behalf of the company and the customers. 5.0 Conclusion Starbucks is one of the most ethical companies in the world. Starbucks was proud of it ethical ways such as community, sourcing, environment, diversity and wellness in doing their business. It has openly display its commitment to being social responsibility. The program of Business Ethics and Compliance is to support their mission and help to protect their culture and reputation. Starbucks has emphasis their employees into three sectors which is global human rights, equal employment opportunity and health care. In Starbucks, they are using three principles in workplace ethics. First is utilitarianism, it can divide into two types which are act-utilitarianism and rule-utilitarianism. Second is distributive justice who means sharing of the benefits and burdens of our lives among people. Third are rights, rights played a central role in ethics and it is important to ensure that the freedom and well-being of each individual will be protected when others threaten that freedom or well-being. There are 3 key principles in Starbucks. (1) Ethical sourcing of coffee, (2) Our partner and (3) Ethical environmental resources. The main ethical issues addressed in Starbucksââ¬â¢s code of conduct for its partners can be categories as commitment of partners to provide quality service to customers, create a workplace environment which is conducive for the partners and emphasis on integrity and fairness on all dealings. After study, we found that there are many ethical practices practiced by employers as well as employees in Starbucks. Starbucks should use ethical screening for job applicants during interview. Starbucks also can expose new employees to the companyââ¬â¢s code of ethics, code of conducts and ethical decision making process during the orientation to improve the ethics in the company. Besides that, Starbucks can improve ethics in the company by providing ethics training workshops for all employees annually to supplement ethics codes. Moreover, Starbucks also need to strengthen the ethics which are individual rights and distributive justice of the work unit by rewarding those employees with ethical behaviours equally and punish those with unethical behaviours through work goals and performance appraisals. Last but not lease, Starbucks should model appropriate behaviours in themselves as they are actually the most important ethics reference point for the employees.

Cultural hyrbidity Essay
The fusion of cultural and ethnic identities refers to hybridisation. Most people acknowledge that they can be affiliated with an individual culture. Banton (2000) notes that ââ¬Å"in the contemporary UK ethnicity is becoming increasingly recognised as something everyone hasâ⬠. 1 Common interests or shared values help form and develop cultural attachmentââ¬â¢s (culture, descent, ancestry, religion, languages, food and traditional values) which in turn develops and forges ethnic identities. Migration of ethnic minorities has stirred some of the UKââ¬â¢s population into feeling the British national identity is under threat. Hybrid identity can be attributed to the exchange of culture through globalisation. Sheila Patterson (1965) studied first generation migrants in Brixton, London during the 1950ââ¬â¢s. Her study involved interviews, observation and participant observation with 250 whites and 150 Afro-Caribbeanââ¬â¢s. Patterson (1965) believes the relationship between hosts and immigrants as not fixed but evolving all the time; ââ¬Å"Whilst adaption through socialisation and acculturation was difficult for immigrants, the hostââ¬â¢s experience was a more passive form of acceptance. ââ¬Å"2 Eriksen (2002) points out that ââ¬Å"no serious scholar today believes that hereditary characteristics explain cultural variations. ââ¬Å"3 Patterson (1965) also states ââ¬Å"the incoming group as a whole â⬠¦ adapts itself to permanent membership of the receiving society in certain major spheres notably economic and civil life. ââ¬Å"4 Pattersonââ¬â¢s final stage of adaption is assimilation, where migrants or minority groups achieve complete acceptance in society. Patterson observed that physical amalgamation may lead to distinctive features of migrant groups and that of their hosts to be lost. Patterson found the progress of the West Indian migrants in Britain was limited, ââ¬Å"there was still opposition to the employment of West Indians by white workers. ââ¬Å"5 Nick names and jocular references resulted in conflict. A rise in the number of West Indian landlords and the acceptance of West Indian tenants did however help alleviate housing problems. Racism existed with some shops refusing the custom of ethnic minorities due to the colour of their skin. Social relationships between migrants and hosts existed but only on a casual contact basis. Patterson (1965) noted that some of the West Indians had adopted the British way of life however, there were few inter-racial marriages. Paterson concluded ââ¬Å"over the next decades in Britain the West Indian migrants and their children will follow in the steps of the Irish and achieve almost complete assimilation into British Society. ââ¬Å"

Macbeth as a Tragic Hero.in Shakespeares Macbeth Essay
Macbeth as a Tragic Hero.in Shakespeares Macbeth When William Shakespeare created Macbeth he included in the title character all the key elements of a tragic hero. Macbeth has a decline from his good standing, reaches a lowest point and soon after turns himself around, the epiphany, and finally rises in his morals and standing; however it is too late and his death is apparent. Macbeths decline begins when he heeds the witches prophecies. His lowest point is reached when he decides that life does not matter to him anymore, soon followed by his epiphany when he decides that he will fight honorably even if it means his death. He then raises his moral standing and regains his honor. Through well written literature, Williamâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦When Macbeth begins to talk about the murder and decides to commit it he says: I am settled, and bend up Each corporal agent to this terrible feat. Away, and mock the time with the fairest show; False face must hide what the false heart doth know (Shakespeare, 205). This is the point where, as he says, he commits his entire being to committing the murder. The old, honorable Macbeth would never conceive such an idea. Macbeth continues his downward spiral even further when he kills his best friend, Banquo, kills an innocent woman and her entire family, Lady Macduff and family, and also with his lack of reaction to his wifes own suicide. This concludes his downward fall, but his lowest point is yet to come. Macbeth reaches his lowest point in his life when he makes a statement equivalent to life does not matter. This would be a low point in anyones life. Macbeth states: Lifes but a walking shadow, a poor player That struts and frets his hour upon the stage And then is heard no more; it is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing (Shakespeare, 257). When he says this, he has more or less lost all hope and apparently does not care about his life; however, he soon reaches his epiphany. Macbeths epiphany is when he tells Macduff that he should not fight with him because he will kill him since he cannot be harmed by a woman born

What Is Composition Definition, Types, and Examples
In the literary sense, a composition (from the Latin to put together) is the way a writer assembles words and sentences to create a coherent and meaningful work. Composition can also meanà the activity of writing, the nature of the subject of a piece of writing, the piece of writing itself, and the name of a college course assigned to a student. This essay focuses on practicing how people write. Key Takeaways In writing, composition refers toà the way a writer structures a piece of writing. The four modes of composition, which were codified in the late 19th century, are description, narration, exposition, and argumentation.Good writing can include elements of multiple modes of composition. Composition Definition Just like a musician and an artist, a writer sets the tone of a composition to his or her purpose, making decisions about what that tone should be to form a structure. A writer might express anything from the point of view of cool logic to impassioned anger. A composition might use cleanà and simple prose, flowery, descriptive passages, or analytical nomenclature. Since the 19th century, English writers and teachers have been grappling with ways to classify forms and modes of writing so beginner writers can have a place to start. After decades of struggle, rhetoricians ended up with four categories of writing that still make up the mainstream of Composition 101 college classes: Description, Narration, Exposition, and Argumentation. Types of Composition Writingà The four classical types of composition (description, narration, exposition, and argumentation) are not categories, per se. They would almost never stand alone in a piece of writing, but rather are best-considered modes of writing, pieces of writing styles that can be combined and used to create a whole. That is to say, they can inform a piece of writing, and they are good starting points for understanding how to put a piece of writing together. Examples for each of the following composition types are based on the American poet Gertrude Steins famous quote from Sacred Emily, her 1913 poem: A rose is a rose is a rose. Description A description, or descriptive writing, is a statement or account that describes something or someone, listing characteristic features and significant details to provide a reader with a portrayal in words. Descriptions are set in the concrete, in the reality, or solidity of an object as a representation of a person, place, or thing in time. They provide the look and feel of objects, a simultaneous whole, with as many details as youd like. A description of a rose might include the color of the petals, the aroma of its perfume, where it exists in your garden, whether it is in a plain terracotta pot or a hothouse in the city. A description of Sacred Emily might talk about the length of the poem and the facts of when it was written and published. It might list the images that Stein uses or mention her use of repetition and alliteration. Narration A narration, or narrative writing, is a personal account, a story that the writer tells his or her reader. It can be an account of a series of facts or events, given in order and establishing connections between the steps. It can even be dramatic, in which case you can present each individual scene with actions and dialog. The chronology could be in strict order, or you could include flashbacks. A narration about a rose might describe how you first came across it, how it came to be in your garden, or why you went to the greenhouse that day. A narration about Sacred Emily might be about how you came across the poem, whether it was in a class or in a book lent by a friend, or if you were simply curious about where the phrase a rose is a rose came from and found it on the internet. Exposition Exposition, or expository writing, is the act of expounding or explaining a person, place, thing, or event. Your purpose is not to just describe something, but to give it a reality, an interpretation, your ideas on what that thing means. In some respects, you are laying out a proposition to explain a general notion or abstract idea of your subject. An exposition on a rose might include its taxonomy, what its scientific and common names are, who developed it, what the impact was when it was announced to the public, and/or how was it distributed.à An exposition on Sacred Emily could include the environment in which Stein wrote, where she was living, what her influences were, and what the impact was on reviewers. Argumentationà Also called argumentative writing, an argumentation is basically an exercise inà comparing and contrasting. It is the methodological presentation of both sides of an argument using logical or formal reasoning. The end result is formulated to persuade why thing A is better than thing B. What you mean by better makes up the content of your arguments. Argumentation applied to a rose might be why one particular rose is better than another, why you prefer roses over daisies, or vice versa. Argumentation over Sacred Emily could compare it to Steins other poems or to another poem covering the same general topic. The Value of Composition A great deal of debate enlivened college theoretical rhetoric in the 1970s and 1980s, with scholars attempting to throw off what they saw were the confining strictures of these four writing styles. Despite that, they remain the mainstay of some college composition classes. What these four classical modes do is provide beginner writers a way to purposefully direct their writings, a structure on which to form an idea. However, they can also be limiting. Use the traditional modes of composition as tools to gain practice and direction in your writing, but remember that they should be considered starting points rather than rigid requirements. Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal - 1482 Words
The article ââ¬Å"A Modest Proposalâ⬠is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also known for Gulliverââ¬â¢s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so dreadful that all the Catholic families of Dublin were not able to support their own children. Due to these conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdomââ¬â¢s issues in a serious but derisive way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical facts. Swiftââ¬â¢s proposal is a satire made to jolt the people of Dublin, Ireland into understanding the growing issues the kingdom faces with poverty and overpopulation. Swiftââ¬â¢s method of choice for a long term elucidation is to turn the Dublinerââ¬â¢s problems into their own so lution. The proposal consists of feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from paying for expensive children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase employment, and will overall add to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest interest that his proposal does not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public good of his country,Show MoreRelatedJonathan Swifts A Modest Proposal949 Words à |à 4 Pages ââ¬Å"A Modest Proposalâ⬠by Jonathan Swift takes place in Dublin Ireland in the 18th century. The notes Leonardo wrote about this invention can be dated to around 1487. Aerial screw ââ¬â a forerunner to the helicopter: Leonardo wrote this about the aerial screw: ââ¬Å"I believe that if this screw device is well manufactured, that is, if it is made of linen cloth, the pores of which have been closed with starch, and if the device is promptly reversed, the screw will engage its gear when in the air and it will rise up on high. â⬠The aerial screw is one of Leonardo most famous inventions. The aerial screw has a diameter of 5 meters, made of reed, linen cloth and wire, and itââ¬â¢s 4 men who stood on the central platform to control the flying machine. But the invention is still an idea. And nobody has tested the aerial screw in the reality. The idea comes from Leonardo first period in Milan and is dated between 1483 and 1486. It belongs to the first series of machines designed for flight. He got the idea from a toy (called windmill game), which was popular in Leonardo time. Deep-sea diving suit: The diving suit Leonardo had also invented a deep-sea diving suit. It was made by leather and cane hoses fixed together by leather Joints so the diver can breathe. Inside the Joints itââ¬â¢s steel spirals so the diver are protected from the pressure of the water. Without the spirals canââ¬â¢t the diver breathe. Leonardo wanted the diver to be dry all the time so he made a coat, trousers and a mask with glass lenses. He invented the diving suit when he was in Venice. He invented it because Venice was threatened by the Turkish fleet. The idea was that one diver should sink at least one of the enemyââ¬â¢s ships. Leonardo wasnââ¬â¢t really known in the beginning of his life, but he was really known for his artwork after he died. Leonardo was inspired by many things. He also liked working with lots of things. Leonardo may have also been fascinated by triangles so much he wanted to put them in mostly all of his paintings. The only thing bout his artwork and inventions is that he never finished anything. Leonardo dad Vinci was born on April 15, 1492. Leonardo died on May 2, 1519. He was born in Vinci, Italy. Leonardo didnââ¬â¢t exactly finish school, but he did try to finish his schooling in later years. He was buried in San Foresting in Ambrose. He was raised by a single father. He drew lots of plans for things that would end up helping in war. While Leonardo was a child he never learned about love. So as Leonardo grew older he didnââ¬â¢t really know how to love anyone. Things people may have realized was that he liked the weirdest things about humans. A kind of interesting thing about him is that he is left handed, but he could also use his right hand. Leonardo could use both of his arms equally. Sometimes he would write down what Jokes and riddles he wanted to share with his friends. One thing Leonardo always did was trying to avoid all the drinking parties. Lots of things inspired him like Paolo Del Bozo Toscanini, a physician and philosopher, investigator of natural phenomena and a mathematician, which inspired him the most out of everything else. Very early he started to use machinery. Soon he became more aware of his knowledge of the principles of physics. He was devoted to studying nature. He also dreamed of the end of the world being very cataclysmic. He philosophized about death. The year of 1476 was very hard for him. The first money check on his account was in March 1478 for 25 florins. Sometimes he would get mad that time was going to fast for him. When he worked with the monks he got a cask of red wine. The arrogance of the intellectual elite who did not like II Magnified and his contemporaries made him very irritated. He also even tried showing he couldnââ¬â¢t be recognized in his own city for his efforts. Leonardo never forgot that they refused to recognize his labors. He also knew he could conduct his own research to learn about humanists. He also had and important interview about laws he wrote one day to be used took place at the end of 1482 or at the beginning of 1483. Also, he soon observed that of all the proposals, he laid before the ruler of Milan, was those concerned with innovations that brought up the most interest. To him all the fun and enjoyable times were all strange. At one point he kind of became homeless because he rent any apartments or buildings to live in anymore. While he was homeless he learned that Lombard artists met in groups for protection. There as a motto used by Leonardo that said in English ââ¬Å"Love conquers all things,â⬠and in another language that may be Latin it said ââ¬Å"Moor noon cosec Vince. â⬠He also tried doing schooling again for years while he was waiting to leave Via. While he was doing this he wrote a long list of words from the dictionary of Lugging Pulpitââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Vocalists. â⬠He wrote definitions down in his own words. Leonardo also made lists of nouns and verbs and degrees. He also entered a competition for building a Cathedral building. People realized something about Leonardo because of his technical discoveries gave them the idea he was interested in mechanical inventions. Another thing he was very interested in was construction of houses and churches. Leonardo urged artists to rely entirely on nature. Also, after seeing a theatre he proposed to build a tomb for princes. He also may have held lots of scripts with velvet covers in his hands. He remembered one of them to him it was like a whole new world of research. At one time he had and apprentice that was a ten year old named Giaconda, son of Giovanni Pitter Capacitor of Reno. Leonardo was a painter and an inventor, but the only thing about his inventions were was that they were never made until later after he died. In his earliest paintings there was signs he was a very good artist. When Leonardo was about 21 he drew his first landscape. Leonardo did a self-portrait and in it he put every single detail that was on his face like wrinkles and all of that in the portrait. In the very first sketches he ever made the faces were all the same. Somewhere in his drawings he had isosceles triangles in them it didnââ¬â¢t really matter they maybe where the arms were bent. Leonardo success began to show when people started imitating his work. A sketch that was found that was made by him in 1478 has been said that it was a sketch for an angels dead. The sketch was probably for the painting he helped Veronica with. In the painting he painted the second angel. He also worked on the theme of god for a while and he looked for the simple types of shepherds he had. On lots of sheets of paper he sketched attitudes and facial gestures of men when a supernatural thing was occurring. During the time Leonardo was making stuff for war he made a memorandum which he handed to Ladylove Sports. In this memorandum he wrote about times of peace and that he had a project and that the project was to make a monument for Francesco Sports. You read "Leonardo Da Vinci" in category "Papers" Soon he started realizing that in Milan it was hard life for the artists who live there during that period. He made a list of sketches for himself and at the top he put ââ¬Å"Many flowers drawn from nature. In spring of 1483 the inspiration for him was the natural beauty of everything. He had signed a contract with a fraternity called the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Ten years after he signed the contract, which was for pictures, there was a problem and he took it to Imbroglio De Prà ©cis and he sent a petition to Ladylove Sports. Another thing about Imbroglio De Prà ©cis is that he finished some of Leonardo sketches and roundworm for things Leonardo was working on. Leonardo also had sketches of disasters and he put mountain landscapes and rivers rushing between the mountains. His first vehicle could probably only go a few yards. He invented a drum with a wheel trestle because drums were popular back in his period. He also drew tools for moving soil. When he was doing that he invented a machine for handling heavy rocks called a lifting grab. He waited for a reason to use it though. Leonardo was into warfare, so he drew sketches of things he thought they will need. One of the things he sketched was a 3-wheeled gun. The 3-wheeled gun is a Cambridge with a huge screw terminating in gigantic forceps which gripped the gun barrel. Leonardo was devoted to the Job for fixing the problems with machine parts. During this time he also sketched guns. Soon he started sketching even better plans for warfare. Leonardo owed his knowledge of military technique to his careful study witnessed by many extracts in the MS B. In these military times he made methods of construction of very light and strong bridges so that in war you can use them to get the enemies faster and he also knew that he knows how to destroy the bridges as good as he dad them. Leonardo also sketched gangways that could be moved to use on towers. He also said he had methods of destroying forts that are not built on rock. But one thing he didnââ¬â¢t have was details on about how to move and stuff like that when rivals came. One thing he represented was an operation of a bomb made with hemp and fish glue and tubes that were going to be attached like spokes to a copper ball filled with a bottle. This was called a collection. During this time one of things he was concerned about at all times was to make his weapons of very inflammable material. He also made and knew the physical laws on the use and possibilities of explosives. Leonardo made a memorandum and it was filled with strange proposals he made. Another thing he had in mind for war was an armored car. One of his projects he had was made in 1515 in Numerous; the project was a breech-loading gun. While he was doing a study with these things of warfare he discovered something by accident. The thing he discovered was steam. Leonardo drew something that looked like a water vessel connected to a copper tube which was heated by a coal fire. What it did s the water flowed into the red-hot tube and turned into steam, which drove the ball out of the mouth of the tube. This is probably how he discovered steam. Leonardo wrote ââ¬Å"The Architectonic is a copper engine invented by Archimedes, which fires heavy iron balls with great force. â⬠While doing all of these projects and sketches he sketched an apocalyptic vision. The atmosphere had a peace sense and it was like he wasnââ¬â¢t all there while drawing it and what it meant in reality. In years after he studied gun-making he was attracted by general mechanical problems outside of the gun field. For guns he decided to make a wagon. Leonardo also made the pistol, but he made it with the Wheel lock. It became known in the public in 1517. Then they changed the wheel lock to a matchlock until the end of the seventeenth century. The ideas he put in front of the lord of Milan made them not have any confidence about the wagon and guns he sketched and possibly made. Leonardo had lots of paintings he did. All of his paintings arenââ¬â¢t finished. In his famous altar piece ââ¬Å"The virgin of the rocksâ⬠He studied the nativity scenes and different poses and gestures of the mother and her infant probably in preparation for the main panel. In his drawing of the ââ¬Å"Bennie Madonnaâ⬠he may have had his stepmother with her first born in her lap. The ââ¬Å"Bennie Madonnaâ⬠made other artists want to draw it. So, thatââ¬â¢s when his success began to show is because everyone started imitating this painting. Leonardo found other ways after to draw the ââ¬Å"Madonna. â⬠Leonardo was about 30 years old when he painted the ââ¬Å"Adoration of the Magi. â⬠He also had a painting called the ââ¬Å"Saint Jerome. â⬠The painting of ââ¬Å"Madonna on the rocksâ⬠is suppose to be like a daydream someone has laying down on the ground and looking up at the sky. In it he also drew an equilateral triangle. In the painting of ââ¬Å"Madonna Littleâ⬠Imbroglio De Prà ©cis colored the clothes that Leonardo helped draw. Leonardo painted a portrait of Cecilia, Ladylove Saffronââ¬â¢s daughter, when she was only about 17 years old. Cecilia is the sister of the ââ¬Å"Mona Lisa. â⬠The one reason you may realize that the ââ¬Å"Mona Lisaâ⬠isnââ¬â¢t done is because she isnââ¬â¢t wearing any Jewelry. Cecilia let Isabella detest compare the portrait done by Giovanni Belliniââ¬â¢s and she had altered completely because she was a lot younger when Giovanni Belliniââ¬â¢s did the first one. His painting of the ââ¬Å"lady with the weaselâ⬠was taken over by the Lombard school. The painting of the ââ¬Å"lady with the weaselâ⬠Imbroglio De Prà ©cis helped with this one too. One thing found was a pen drawing of the head of Christ. There are seven sketches of ââ¬Å"Saint Jerome in the Desert. â⬠There are about eight sketches for ââ¬Å"Saint Sebastianâ⬠There is about four sketches for the later picture of ââ¬Å"Angel of the Annunciation. â⬠There is one completed picture of the ââ¬Å"Madonna. â⬠There is one head of the blessed virgin for the picture of the ââ¬Å"Ascension. â⬠There is one sculpture of ââ¬Å"Crucifixion in relief. â⬠Leonardo drew ââ¬Å"Mount Sepsisâ⬠in Ptolemy map of Asia. For a sculpture, the perfect smoothness was all done by him. Also, in a notebook he had instructions for what he wanted everything to look like. The architecture filled his every thought. He was asked to help with the design of the ââ¬Å"Saint Sophia at Constantinople. â⬠He made lots of sketches of this design. He was aware that they preferred the form of the Latin cross. Some people thought Leonardo was kind of weird for wanting to study the senses and stuff about the body. Leonardo began to think about stuff on the human mind understands things. He also thought that signs are the best of all the senses of the human body. But, he was very uncomfortable in the field of abstract thought. Leonardo wrote ââ¬Å"The senses are earthly; the reason stands outside them during contemplation. In the classical school of reason and will he put in those places memory and intellect. He devoted his leisure time to the study of philosophy. But, Leonardo still didnââ¬â¢t yet have his intellectual confidence. After reading a book that AFAIK Carbon gave him called ââ¬Å"The perspective communism of John Peacock. â⬠He wrote som ething after called ââ¬Å"An introduction to perspective, that to say to the function of the eye. â⬠The lenses of the eye were his way into anatomy. He was first to record the phenomena of irradiation. He also made a lamp to help him at night with these studies. Leonardo was very interested in making things, so he decided to make new cities and towns. When he entered a competition for a Cathedral building he thought about making cities out of the soil. Leonardo considered ways of using Ladylove Saffronââ¬â¢s life-preserving fear in his plans. He said ââ¬Å"that to have humanity go from capital cities is to build ten towns and have five thousand houses to house more than 30,000 people. While he talked about this he never left out the economic side. He wanted his towns on riverbanks or seashores and he had the Diction in mind. His cities in mind were for the rich and aristocrats. There was going to be two cities right on top of each other. When he wasnââ¬â¢t allowed to build the ten new cities he went and invented things to keep foul smells away. Leonardo was many things in his life even if it was mostly art. He was an interesting man with all of things he did like when he went back to school so he could do more since artists werenââ¬â¢t known that much. Leonardo did have lots of art sketches that he didnââ¬â¢t really have names for, but he still worked on them no matter whatever until he probably got bored with them. He id lots of things for warfare too he invented things we can use today because we put more into what he already had. We also have some of his paintings still around they are in museums all around the world, but he did lots of paintings even though he may not have finished them. Leonardo did like what he did even if people thought it was weird because he still studied some more into the human body. He may have wanted new cities, but that probably was only to make him famous. It was marked by a humanistic revival of classical influence showed it a flowering of the arts, literature and by the beginnings of modern science. The Italian Renaissance is the time period when Italy was the center of the Renaissance. He was born to unmarried parentââ¬â¢s who were Seer Piper dad Vinci (he was an official who certifies legal documents) and a nearby woman named Catering. There isnââ¬â¢t much to say about Leonardo childhood except that when he was 15 his father introduced him to Andrea Del Veronica. He was a painter, sculptor, goldsmith and a magnificent craftsman. He wanted to make sure that his work was perfect regarding the way he portrayed the human body. The elements that Veronica had were important to Leonardo because he admired Veronicaââ¬â¢s artistic traits. After Leonardo completed his apprenticeship he continued his Job as an assistant at Veronicaââ¬â¢s workshop. Leonardo first well-known painting in displayed in Veronicaââ¬â¢s Baptism of Christ. In about 1478 Leonardo set up his own studio. Three years later he received a church contract for an altarpiece (the sculpture in front of a church) called the Adoration of the Magi. The Magi altarpiece was left unfinished because Leonardo left Florence to accept the Job of a court artist for the Duke of Milan. Leonardo presented himself to the Duke of Milan as a skilled worker in crafts but more particularly in military engineering. Leonardo first Melamine painting was titled Virgin of the Rocks. It is from a respected tradition that the Holy Family is presented inside a cave. The setting that this piece reveals shows Leonardo interest in representing nature with dimmed lights. Some advice that Leonardo gave out to artists was to draw at dusk in courtyards with the walls painted black. Another famous painting from Leonardo was the Last Supper. Instead of painting this piece with water color paints on fresh plaster he tested an oil- based medium. His experiment with the oil base was unsuccessful. His painting began to fall off of the wall and within 40-50 years the painting had spots on them. He left Milan when the Duke of Milan was overthrown by The French Invasion. From there he visited Venice for a short period of time. While he was there he had consulted with the Senate on some of his military projects and then went to Mantra. In 1500, Leonardo returned back to Florence. Immediately the Florentine painters of that generation began to follow Leonardo because they were thrilled by his modern methods. They were familiar with the methods in his unfinished artwork of the Adoration of the Magi. Leonardo also served as a military engineer for Cesar Boring in the year 1 502, and he completed the most amounts of projects during this time in Florence than at any time period in his life. In his works of these years he mainly concentrated on portraying the human vitality such as the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa is a portrait of a Florentine citizenââ¬â¢s young third wife. Her smile in the painting is called mysterious because it represents the process of either appearing or disappearing. Another one of Leonardo fantastic painting was a cavalry battle scene (when soldiers fought on horses) that the city hired him to decorate the newly built Council Hall of the Palazzo Vehicle. The work known for that today is some roughly sketched groups of horsemen, carefully drawn single heads of men, and some copies of the whole thing. He began to paint the artwork but was called to go back to Milan so the work was left uncompleted. A short time after that, the room was remodeled and the piece was destroyed. When Leonardo was called back to Milan he was to work on a statue of a leader riding a horse but he didnââ¬â¢t produce any new paintings. Instead he turned more and more to scientific observations. Many of Leonardo scientific concerns were his interests as a painter and, his research in anatomy (structure of a living organism) was the most developed. Leonardo produced the earliest anatomical drawing that is still followed to this day. Leonardo filled a scientific Journal with data and drawings that revealed his scientific interests such as firearms, the action of water, the flight of birds, growth of plants and geology (study of earth). All of his interests had to do with process of action, movement, pressure, and growth. It is said that his drawing of the human body are less about how bodies are and more about how they work. In 1513 Leonardo went to Rome and stayed there for 6 years. There he was honored, but he then became inactive especially with his artistic and rich life yet he still continued to write in his Journals. Francis I (the French King) invited Leonardo to his court and he received the title for first painter, architect, and mechanic and provided him with a house at Cloud, France. Leonardo died on May 2, 1519. Nasty or not pleasant. My definition of evil would be something deceitful and Leonardo Dad Vinci can be distinguished as a fighter against evil because in his sketches and sculptors of the human anatomy he expressed how the human body works. He portrayed how beautiful the human body can be, where to some people they looked at his art of something profane and evil. This bold young gentlemen contrived appliances and real life looking paintings that follow you were ever you go. During the 15th and 16th centuries men began to revive the arts and the sciences which had almost been forgotten during the middle ages. This period in history is called the renaissance. One of the greatest men of the renaissance was Leonardo did seer Piper dad Vinci. Vinci was born on April. 5th, 1452, in a small town called Michigan, which was near Vinci. Vinci was a unique boy with lots of intelligent and when he was young he used to admire the outside world and drew rocks and trees for his entertainment. Even though he was a lonely kid and an only child, he seemed smarter than the other kids that lived near him. Vinci had parentââ¬â¢s but they broke up after his birth, after they separated his fat her raised him. Later on when Vinci was age 1 5 and already mastered the full potential of an artist was sent away by his father, to a man named Andrea del Overarching and was a pupil in his workshop. In 1472, working with del Overarching, Dad Vinci was obtained into the painterââ¬â¢s guild of Florence. Vinci worked with Overarching for 10 years and humiliated Overarching so many times he quit being a painter, which was astounding because only so many students humiliate their own master. As this young teen growing up he never lost the interest or his reputation as an artist but His interest in painting led him to study anatomy, the science of light and vision, the growth and structure of plants, and other subjects which would help him in his art. Later on down the road when Vineââ¬â¢s career started to gain, he was charged with sodomyââ¬â¢s, later the charges were dropped but he was humiliated when he was not hoses to be hired to paint the Sistine Chapel. Dad Vinci was going back and forth place to place going back to Florence for the second time to serve Cesar Barrio in 1502. In 1512 Leonardo went to Rome where the new pope was one of the Medics, his patron family. Dad Vinci did not remain too long in Rome but went instead back to Milan to prepare for the arrival of the King of France. In 1516 he left for France at the invitation of King Francis the first. While living in France he received a castle of Cloud and some money to live on. Leonardo spent his last two and a half years there. He painted a bit, but one of his hands was now slightly paralyzed because of a stroke. Leonardo Dad Vinci died in 1519 at age of 67 and was buried at Ambrose near his castle. He has become known as a true example of the Renaissance man because Leonardo was interested in almost everything. (http://www. Dovetailing. Com/ index. HTML) Leonardo had lots of students while he was alive but one student hanged out than the rest he taught than later adopted a child named Giant Giaconda Capacitor dad Reno, which he nicknamed the boy Salami which is also referred to as little Satan. Vinci eased the ten year old boy with extra care. He was odd, and used to destroy most of his work. Giant was named Salami because he would steal from Dad Vinci and steal from other people to as well. In the first y ear with Vinci, Salami was given a cloak, six shirts, three doublets and twenty four pairs of shoes. Even after all that he kept stealing, so Dad Vinci had to keep an eye on him the whole time they were in public. Giant showed some great work in painting but didnââ¬â¢t become a painter. Vinci taught him some skills but always had to clean up Giantââ¬â¢s paintings. (http://www. Lardier. Org. NZ/Leonardo/ alai. HTML) Dad Vinci painted so many real live looking people in his painting; itââ¬â¢s incredible to think about back in the 1 5th and 16th century. One of Leonardo first paintings was with Andrea del Overarching and they drew the Baptism of Christ. Overarching told Vinci to paint the knelling angel and Vinci did a better Job than his own master. During his lifetime he has painted so many pictures that have been amazing. Some great works that Leonardo has painted were The Last Supper, when Leonardo remained in Milan for 17 years during which time he painted the famous Last Supper and completed a 6 foot model of the Oxfords statue. In 1499 French troops invaded Milan and Leonardo was unharmed, he fled to Venice. In a later invasion by the French, the model of the Oxfords statue was broken up, and there is no record of it besides for Leonardo sketches. Another Painting that Leonardo did back in Florence was one of his famous paintings La Giaconda which is more commonly known as the Mona Lisa. Madonna Lisa, the wife of a Florentine merchant. Leonardo worked on the painting for four years. ââ¬Å"The poet ranks far below the painter in the representation of visible wings, and far below the musician in that of invisible things. â⬠(http://www. Many of his weapons were very helpful for the war and some are even still used today. Some weapons that Vinci came up with was his helicopter, first ever designed helicopter that was also referred to as Arial Screw, Leonardo felt that men could operate it by pushing the four parts to rotate the propeller. One of the inventions that he made, that we still used today is a parachute. One of the most known inventions Dad Vinci came up with was the glider he made with no engine, which could keep itself up from the wind currents. Leonardo made so many other inventions to, he even invented the first crane, scuba diving suit, and he was so interested in the study of light and vision. He understood the principle which causes light to cast an image upside down on a screen Just like our cameras now. Dad Vinci helped out so much in his life time; he was a lonely man but dedicated his life time work to art, inventions and became one of the most genuine and one of the most popular people ever known. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte Chapter 32 Essay Example For Students
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte: Chapter 32 Essay The chapter begins with an exact date of 1802, in September when Lockwood returns to Thrushcross grange, which is reminiscent of chapter one. Bronte uses Nelly Dean to tell Lockwood what has been happening whilst he has been away, who then tells us the story. When Lockwood approached Wuthering Heights both doors and lattices were open which immediately shows the contrast to when he had last visited the Heights and the gate was locked. When Lockwood is in the Heights he over hears a voice as sweet as silver bell and then another answered in a deep, but softened tones. This is where he finds Cathy and Hareton, Cathy is giving Hareton reading lessons and Lockwood believes they are in love. When Lockwood finds Nelly Dean, she informs Mr. Lockwood that it has been three months since Heathcliff had died and Ill tell you all about it. Nelly had been summoned to Wuthering Heights as a companion for Cathy, she smuggled over a great number of books for Cathys amusement since she had been confined to the Heights narrow bounds and forbidden to move out of the garden. Nelly tells Lockwood that over time Cathy noticed it was wrong for her to tease Hareton for his literacy inabilities. Nelly tells Lockwood that Cathy would try to entice Hareton to read by reading aloud a story and at the interesting parts when Hareton she would pause and leave the book lying about but Hareton was as obstinate as a mule and proceeded to smoke with Joseph. It was when Heathcliff banished Hareton from the Heights one day that caused an accident which incidentally sparked the new friendship between the cousins. Whilst Hareton was out on the hills by himself; a splinter cut his arm, and he lost a great deal of blood, it was this accident that bound him to sit by the fire until he made the blood up again. It was on Easter Monday that Cathy approached Hareton to say she should like it if we could be cousins but Hareton just growled, with uncompromising gruffness. However, Cathy persisted with Hareton you are my cousin and you shall own me. Nelly concludes her narrative in this chapter by saying that they are well suited since one loving and desiring to esteem; and the other loving and desiring to be esteemed Nelly tells Lockwood that she is glad Cathy and Lockwood had not previously meet and become a couple as Lockwood had wished because when they are wed on 1st January 1803, Nelly Dean will be the most happiest women in England because she has watched them come from hating each other to falling truly in love. It has been said that Bronte explores the themes of reconciliation, rebirth and gro wth through the younger generation. What do you think the relationship of young Cathy and Hareton offers to the novel as a whole? Young Cathy and Hareton show what the Catherine and Linton could have been like if Catherine had not be driven via social morals, or if she had not stayed at the Linton resident and met Edgar. Cathy and Haretons relationship is significant to the book as it follows the same pattern as the previous generation however, it concludes the novel nicely allowing the reader information of what happens after Heathcliff death, who is the main character. Cathy did not like Hareton at first which mirrors Catherines feelings towards Heathcliff when Mr Earnshaw first brought Heathcliff home with him. When Heathcliff dies Cathy and Hareton finish the novel, their story allows us to find out that Heathcliff was buried next to Catherine, and more details about his funeral. Also we are able to find out what happens to both houses now Hareton is the owner of both, we find out that everyone except Joseph will move to Thrushcross Grange, Wuthering Heights will be closed and Joseph will live in the kitchen, maybe with a young boy for company. .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d , .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .postImageUrl , .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d , .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d:hover , .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d:visited , .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d:active { border:0!important; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d:active , .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u78d8756e64110d6e18fa9a77c9f2f87d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Huckleberry Finn Essay ââ¬â A Racist NovelThrough Cathy and Haretons relationship, the motifs of eyes, violence, books, and barriers become apparent and more obvious. Wuthering Heights was always locked and barred to visitors until Heathcliff dies and Cathy and Hareton is the master and mistress of the house, then the house is always open and welcoming. Cathy and Hareton are not the most important characters in the novel, because they come into the story quite late on, as the reader, we dont feel as connected with them as we do with Cathy and Heathcliff. However, when Catherine dies the novel can not end because it is key to find out that she is not buried with the Earnshaws or the Lintons but out in the open over looking the church, her gravestone is plain grey and her grave is half covered with heath, showing she was half Heathcliff. Then Edgar dies and is buried next to his wife Catherine, then Heathcliff is buried on the other side of her to show her conflicting feelings between Heathcliff and Edgar. Without Cathy and Hareton Bronte would not be able to keep the reader in suspense as much as she usually does because she would not be able to flick between the times as there would be no other stories for Nelly Dean to tell Lockwood. In conclusion young Cathy and Hareton are more gap filling characters then vital characters, although it is significant that they get married on new years day to show the start of their new life in Thrushcross grange where Heathcliff can not cause misery.
